March 2008 saw Aberdeen Airport's staff and management celebrating after winning the prestigious ACI Airport Service Quality 'Best Improvement Award' - making Aberdeen Airport the world's most improved airport in 2006/7 - measured in terms of customer satisfaction.

The airport has undergone £10 million of investment in the last 10 years and is the largest transport gateway in the north-east of Scotland. On weekdays, 26 flights depart from Aberdeen Airport for London alone - with the airport managing a massive 84,000 fixed-wing aircraft movements each year - in addition to the 37,000 helicopter flights which take place every year.

Aberdeen Airport opened in 1934 and has long been a significant employer in the region, employing around 2,900 people and contributing an estimated £482m per year to the UK economy.

The airport serves a comprehensive range of UK destinations, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Birmingham, East Midlands, Manchester, Belfast International and Bristol. Scheduled flights also operate to Dublin and Amsterdam and a range of other European cities.
