Blaydon-on-Tyne, to give Blaydon its full name, is a town to the west of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gateshead.

Blaydon has a population of around 15,000 and lies a few miles to the west of Gateshead and Newcastle, on Tyneside. It sits alongside the River Tyne and has a long history as an industrial area – the district once included several major collieries and a variety of other heavy industry. Today, Blaydon's is home to a number of smaller businesses as well as a sizeable residential community – it offers easy commuting to Gateshead and Newcastle.

Nearby attractions include Stella Hall, a large Elizabethan house built on a site has been occupied since 1143, when there was a nunnery on the site. Blaydon has good road connections, principally via the A1, which runs directly past the town. The A69 also passes close to Blaydon and provides direct access to the north west of England and the M6.

Blaydon's large residential and business community means that the town generates a steady demand for van rental and the town does have local suppliers to meet this need. A typical range of hire vans should be available at most times:

  • Medium / short wheelbase vans - e.g. Ford Transit, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master, LDV Maxus
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
