About Huddersfield

Huddersfield is a large town in West Yorkshire, located in the borough of Kirklees. Historically a town of textile mills and collieries, today it is home to a more mixed selection of industries. Although textile production continues, the University of Huddersfield is now one of the town's largest employers.

Visitors to the town might be interested to note that it was the birthplace of former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson and that the splendid Huddersfield railway station is a Grade I listed building. The town is in fact known for its fine, Victorian architecture - Huddersfield has the third-highest number of listed buildings of any town or city in the UK.

Huddersfield benefits from its central, well-connected location - with both the M62 and the M1 running close to the town. It is no surprise that major roads have always been routed past Huddersfield - there was a settlement on the site in Roman times and Huddersfield has been a market town for more than 1000 years.

As you might expect, van hire in Huddersfield is not a problem - a great selection of hire vans is available from the town's van rental companies:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
