Lancing is a large coastal village in West Sussex, situated close to Shoreham-By-Sea, Sompting and Coombes. Lancing has its own beaches and cliffs and was once a popular seaside resort - although less so today. Nearby Shoreham Airport is said to be the oldest continually operated airport in the UK.

Just to the north of Lancing lies Lancing Ring, a nature reserve that is part of the South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Most of the other land in the area is either agricultural or suburban in nature - the population of Lancing has grown steadily over the last 50 years.

The A24 gives access to locations north of Lancing (almost everywhere…) including, ultimately, the M25. Van hire is not a problem despite Lancing's relatively small size - a full range of hire vans should be available from local suppliers:
