Leyland, in Lancashire, lies just to the south of Preston and is one of several industrial towns in the region. Originally the home of its namesake Leyland Motors, truck building still makes a contribution to the town's economy, as do the food and retail industries.

Attractions for visitors to the area include Worden Park, which boasts more than 150 acres of mixed parkland as well as a folly and a children's play area. Adjacent Worden Hall has an arts and crafts centre with cafe, which makes for an ideal conclusion to a walk in the park. Leyland town centre is home to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum. This celebrates more than a century of British vans, lorries and buses - many of which were built in Leyland. Other nearby attractions include Samlesbury Hall and Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve.
