The town of Rugby is situated in Warwickshire. Close to the city of Coventry, Rugby itself is home to more than 60,000 people and has a thriving life of its own, including a significant heavy engineering heritage.

Once a major railway engineering location, Rugby also provided the setting for the Charles Dickens story Mugby Junction and is also well known as the birthplace of Rugby football, at Rugby School. The inventor of the jet engine, Frank Whittle, also did much of his pioneering work in Rugby.
