About Sevenoaks

The town of Sevenoaks has a history dating back to at least the 13th century. It is home to England's oldest secular school, Sevenoaks School, which was founded in 1432. Popular attractions in an around Sevenoaks include the 15th century Knole House, built by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Bourchier, and Lullingstone Roman Villa, one of the best-preserved Roman villas in England. Also nearby is Oldbury Hill, the site of a large (123 acres) Iron Age camp and hill fort.

Sevenoaks is one of the five Kentish Towns - the others are Ashford & Tenterden, Maidstone, Royal Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge, all of which are within a short drive of Sevenoaks.

The town is also close to Dartford. Sevenoaks has a population of around 19,000, many of whom commute to London or other towns in the area for work. The town's convenient location, heritage and attractiveness make it a popular and expensive place to live.
