About Swindon

Known by drivers for its 'Magic Roundabout', Swindon, in Wiltshire, lies on the junction of two Roman roads. Positioned next to the M4 Motorway which links Wales with London, and sitting on the main railway line between Bristol and London, Swindon is unsurprisingly a very popular residential base for commuters to major cities on the M4 corridor. Designated as an Expanded Town under the Town Development Act of 1952, Swindon's population has grown rapidly over the last 50 years and today stands at around 155,000.

Billie Piper, the singer and actress, was born in Swindon in 1982, and fans of Ian Fleming's British agent James Bond will know that Swindon was used for scenes in The World Is Not Enough and A View To A Kill. Ian Fleming rests only a few miles North-east of Swindon in the village of Sevenhampton.

Swindon's large residential population means that van hire is in strong demand. Local van rental suppliers provide a wide range of hire vans and minibuses, catering for all requirements:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
