Tingwall Airport is situated near Gott, about six miles from Lerwick and 30 miles from the island’s Sumburgh Airport, the Shetlands' main airport for external flights.

Tingwall Airport was established in 1976 to replace a grass landing strip. It provides inter-island flights to Papa Stour, Foula, Fair Isle and Out Skerries. The Shetland air ambulance service also uses the airport when needed as Tingwall is the closest airport to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick; the Shetland Island’s main hospital.
