The town of Waltham Cross is home to around 10,000 people and is situated on the Essex border and adjacent to the London Borough of Enfield. Waltham Cross is also close to Cheshunt and Waltham Abbey.

Attractions in the area include the Paradise Wildlife Park, in nearby Broxbourne and in Waltham Cross itself, one of the three remaining Eleanor Crosses. These mark the overnight resting places of Queen Eleanor's coffin on its journey to Westminster Abbey in 1209.
