{"id":111,"date":"2008-04-16T06:00:06","date_gmt":"2008-04-16T05:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/111"},"modified":"2008-04-15T21:31:27","modified_gmt":"2008-04-15T20:31:27","slug":"uk-petrol-diesel-now-comes-with-25-biodiesel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/111","title":{"rendered":"UK Petrol &#038; Diesel Now Comes With 2.5% Biodiesel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From yesterday, 15th April, all petrol and diesel sold in the UK must include 2.5% biodiesel, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/93\">new legislation<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/82\">introduced in this year&#8217;s Budget<\/a>. <img src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/fuel-pumps.jpg\" alt=\"Diesel and petrol pumps\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The requirement is part of the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation and will increase to 5% in 2010, despite growing concerns about the environmental cost of producing biofuels &#8211; especially in countries were deforestation is taking place to plant biofuel crops such as palm trees.<\/p>\n<p>Any fuel suppliers who cannot demonstrate that their fuels include the required 2.5% of biofuels will have to pay a fee to the Treasury.
