The van will go on show for the first time at this month&#8217;s CV Show in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>The Transit Custom will go on sale late in 2012 and is a big step towards Ford&#8217;s goal of refreshing its entire commercial vehicle line up by 2014.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3233\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3233\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3233\" title=\"Ford Transit Custom - new in 2012\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ford-transit-custom-1-sm.jpg\" alt=\"Ford Transit Custom - new in 2012\" width=\"500\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ford-transit-custom-1-sm.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ford-transit-custom-1-sm-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3233\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new Ford Transit Custom - on sale later in 2012<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Lengths &amp; Weights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like the current Transit, The Transit Custom will compete in the one-tonne sector and will initially be available with payloads ranging from 600kg to 1,400kg.<\/p>\n<p>Ford says that the Transit Custom is intended to dramatically expand the traditional customer base of the Transit with its car-like looks, comfort and driving dynamics. It&#8217;s certainly a dramatic departure from the more van-like current model and if it retains the toughness of the regular Transit it should prove very appealing to SMEs and tradesmen owner-drivers.<\/p>\n<p>From launch, the Transit Custom will offer a choice of short wheelbase (SWB &#8211; overall length 4.97 metres) and long wheelbase (LWB &#8211; overall length 5.34 metres) versions, so that customers can select the amount of load space which best suits their business.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3234\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3234\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3234\" title=\"Ford Transit Custom - loadspace\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ford-transit-custom-2-sm.jpg\" alt=\"Ford Transit Custom - loadspace\" width=\"500\" height=\"376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ford-transit-custom-2-sm.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ford-transit-custom-2-sm-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3234\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Transit Custom will allow long loads to be loaded through the bulkhead for maximum length without compromising safety<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Engines &amp; Technical Stuff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Transit Custom will be powered by the same generation of 2.2-litre diesels as current models. Ford promises that the improved versions of Ford\u2019s 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine will offer class-leading economy and buyers will be able to choose from 100PS, 125PS and 155PS power ratings.
