{"id":3970,"date":"2012-11-07T08:09:48","date_gmt":"2012-11-07T08:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/?p=3970"},"modified":"2012-11-07T08:09:48","modified_gmt":"2012-11-07T08:09:48","slug":"new-van-registrations-down-8-1-in-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/3970","title":{"rendered":"New Van Registrations Down 8.1% In October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New van registrations fell once more in October, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.smmt.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">SMMT<\/a>), dropping 8.1% compared to October 2011 and giving a 6.5% fall for the year to date.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/3832\">I predicted last month<\/a>, September&#8217;s 1% gain was only down to the &#8217;62&#8217; plate change and we are now back to normality. Pick-up registrations rose by 18.7% in October, while 4&#215;4 registrations gained 9.5%.<\/p>\n<p>Truck registrations were dragged down by big falls in the 3.5t &#8211; 6.0t category (which remains up 41% on the year to date) and the 3-axle artic category, where sales fell by 19.6% in October, taking the fall for the year to date to 8.8%. Registrations rose in all of the other truck categories.<\/p>\n<h3>Ford Remains Dominant<\/h3>\n<p>Ford hit the news recently when it announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/3931\">the closure of its Ford Transit plant<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/southampton\">Southampton<\/a>, but it remains the dominant manufacturer in the UK&#8217;s light commercial vehicle market, with 29.4% of market share in October and 26.7% for the year to date.<\/p>\n<p>In second place, Volkswagen has arond 12.5% of the market, just above <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/luton\">Luton<\/a>-based Vauxhall, which has around 11%.<\/p>\n<p>Peugeot, Mercedes, Citroen and Renault account for a further 31% of the market, followed by Nissan, Toyota, Fiat, Land Rover, Mitsubishi and Iveco.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Van registrations fell by 8.1% in October, resuming their downwards path after the 62 plate change, as I predicted in September.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[8],"tags":[1212,310,1328],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3970"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3970"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3970\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3974,"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3970\/revisions\/3974"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3970"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3970"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3970"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
