Here are some of the highlights of today&#8217;s event.<\/p>\n<h3>City Van Award<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_149\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-149\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-149\" alt=\"Citroen Nemo van\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/citroen-nemo-sm-300x185.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/citroen-nemo-sm-300x185.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/citroen-nemo-sm.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-149\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Citroen Nemo van<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The\u00a0Citro\u00ebn Nemo was the judges&#8217; choice in the City Van category, thanks to its compact dimensions, high payload and low running costs &#8212; the Nemo is\u00a0only 3.86m long, but has a high 660kg payload and a large 2.5m<sup>3<\/sup> (extendable to 2.8 m<sup>3<\/sup>) load compartment, which can accommodate a Euro pallet, or load lengths of up to 2,493mm with the standard Extenso\u00ae front passenger seat folded flat.<\/p>\n<p>Combined cycle fuel consumption of up to 62.8mpg means that fuel costs can be kept under control, while CO2 emissions of just under 119g\/km ensure that the van&#8217;s environmental credentials aren&#8217;t questioned.<\/p>\n<p>The final clincher for the Nemo was probably\u00a0Citro\u00ebn&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/5572\">strong presence in the SME and small fleet markets<\/a>. Since the Nemo is also available from Peugeot (as the Bipper) and Fiat (as the Fiorino),\u00a0Citro\u00ebn&#8217;s UK Business Centre network is one of the few ways of differentiating between the three company&#8217;s offerings &#8212; and there aren&#8217;t really any other van models that compete directly in this category.<\/p>\n<h3>Small &amp; Green&#8230;<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_5389\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5389\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5389\" alt=\"Renault Kangoo Van Z.E. electric van\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/renault-kangoo-ze-6-sm-300x183.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/renault-kangoo-ze-6-sm-300x183.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/renault-kangoo-ze-6-sm.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5389\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Renault Kangoo Van Z.E. electric van has already sold more than 11,000 units, making it the best-selling electric van in Europe.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Renault Kangoo was the victor in two categories, taking home the awards for both Small Trades Van and Green Van of the Year, in the form of the all-electric Kangoo Van Z.E.<\/p>\n<p>Proving that the presence of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/4140\">the Kangoo-based Citan<\/a> hasn&#8217;t reduced the appeal of Renault&#8217;s offering, judge Ralph Morton, Business Van Manager&#8217;s editorial director, said that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe small trades van sector is supremely competitive, but the Kangoo wins for us because it\u2019s the best example of how a small trades van can appeal to a wide variety of users in many business sectors.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s a notable victory against the all-conquering\u00a0Citro\u00ebn Berlingo, and the judges acknowledged that Renault&#8217;s electric offering, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/5388\">multi-award winnning<\/a> Kangoo Van Z.E., is also a strong real-world performer, with Mr Morton describing it as,\u00a0<em>&#8220;an excellent choice for small businesses wanting to operate a green van in city environments\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>The Germans make it five<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_1872\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1872\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1872\" alt=\"Volkswagen Transporter Sportline\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/vw-transporter-sportline-sm-300x193.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/vw-transporter-sportline-sm-300x193.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/vw-transporter-sportline-sm.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1872\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Volksagen Transporter was the Business Van judges choice for Van of the Year.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Renault managed two awards, but Volkswagen went three better and left the awards ceremony with no fewer than five titles. The German marque&#8217;s ever-popular Transporter van was the judges&#8217; choice in the Van of the Year and Best Large Trades Van categories, with judge Ralph Morton describing the Transporter as\u00a0<em>&#8220;the ideal all-rounder for the trades, offering quality, value and reliability in equal measure&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/5607\">the Crafter<\/a> picked up the award for Best Heavy Van, beating the ever-popular Sprinter to the title, thanks in part to the reduced running costs provided by its BlueMotion specification.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the Volkswagen&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/3968\">big pick-up, the Amarok<\/a>, romped home with the Best Utility Pick-Up and Best Double Cab awards, with Mr Morton describing the Amarok as\u00a0<em>&#8220;delivering high standards of quality and reliability.
