\"ErgoThe latest installment in Nissan’s relentless and impressive\u00a0campaign to promote its e-NV200 electric van is the ‘\u00a32 Challenge’ — providing firms with the chance to see just how little\u00a0an electric van costs to run on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

The latest UK firm to take up the \u00a32 challenge is The Ergro Group, a\u00a0building and building services engineering group\u00a0which operates a 35-strong fleet from its Dartford HQ.<\/p>\n

Ergro engineer Charlie Morgan drove a\u00a0fully loaded e-NV200 from the company\u2019s Dartford base to central London (a round trip of about\u00a040 miles) where he completed a full day\u2019s worth of service calls (a few more miles) before heading back.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, he had used just \u00a31.20\u2019s worth of the vehicle\u2019s full \u00a32 charge, clearly demonstrating how the e-NV200 can help fleet operators and business van users significantly reduce running and whole-life costs. By way of contrast, a equivalent diesel-powered van of the same size would probably have used about\u00a0\u00a36-\u00a37 of diesel for the same work.<\/p>\n

Yes, but … you might say — what about the initial purchase cost of the e-NV200? Well, Nissan currently offers the e-NV200 from\u00a0\u00a313,393, including the benefit of the government’s Plug-In Van Grant. That compares very\u00a0favourably with the cost of buying the diesel-powered NV200, which is priced from \u00a313,890 on the road.<\/p>\n

In addition to low running costs and emissions, electric van users\u00a0will also benefit from low maintenance costs that make for unrivalled total cost of ownership: Nissan claims that the e-NV200 will cost\u00a0\u00a31,200 less\u00a0than a conventional diesel van to run over four years \u2013 and an unbeatable proposition for businesses large and small.<\/p>\n
