Finally, the\u00a0new Berlingo range will also include\u00a0an updated all-electric\u00a0Berlingo model.<\/p>\n<h3>More active assistance<\/h3>\n<p>In addition to\u00a0the safety features available on the current model (hill-start assist, Grip Control, speed limiter and automatic lights),\u00a0Citro\u00ebn has upped the ante with a range of new features for 2015, more commonly found on mid-range cars:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Active City Brake<\/strong>: an automatic braking system designed to prevent collisions at speeds of up to 30kph (19mph).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Front parking sensors:<\/strong>\u00a0allong with the existing\u00a0rear parking sensors, these new sensors make it easy to drive right up to a wall or parked vehicle without bumping it&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reversing camera<\/strong>: as an option, the new\u00a0Berlingo can be equipped with a reversing camera for easier day-to-day parking. When the driver puts the vehicle into reverse, the image from the camera will be displayed on the new 7-inch dashboard touchscreen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Lower emissions<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ve had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/6908\">a good rant<\/a> about the\u00a0failings of Euro 5 and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/7107\">loophole-ridden lack of Euro 6 adoption<\/a> recently, but Euro 6\u00a0will be compulsory for vans from September 2015,\u00a0so van operators won&#8217;t be able to avoid the minor cost and hassle of AdBlue for much longer.<\/p>\n<p>The new Berlingo will be powered by a range of Euro 6 engines,\u00a0badged as BlueHDi models.\u00a0The 17-litre AdBlue tank will be located in the back of the vehicle and will contain, according to\u00a0Citro\u00ebn, enough AdBlue for 20,000km &#8212; so I guess\u00a0many van operators will get it topped up alongside each oil change.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the\u00a0key figures for the new engine range:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BlueHDi 75 manual: 65.7mpg &amp; 113g of CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/li>\n<li>BlueHDi 100 manual: 59mpg\u00a0&amp;\u00a0113g of CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/li>\n<li>BlueHDi 100 S&amp;S manual: 56mpg &amp;\u00a0109g of CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/li>\n<li>BlueHDi 100 S&amp;S ETG6 engine: 48mpg &amp;\u00a0109g of CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/li>\n<li>BlueHDi 120 S&amp;S 6-speed manual: 60mpg &amp;\u00a0115g of CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The electric Berlingo, of course, has zero tailpipe emissions. It also boasts a range of 170km between charged and offers a power output of 67bhp along with <em>&#8220;virtually\u00a0constant torque&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>of 200Nm,\u00a0making it a seriously nippy beast\u00a0at urban and suburban speeds.<\/p>\n<p>Maximum speed is 110kph, so it&#8217;s not a motorway muncher, but as I&#8217;ve often written before,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/6746\">urban delivery vans<\/a>, are, in my view, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/7054\">currently<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/6950\">the<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/6809\">killer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/6308\">app<\/a> for electric power &#8212; easily the best chance yet to bring electric vehicles into the mainstream and prove their\u00a0worth.<\/p>\n<h3>Touchscreen infotainment<\/h3>\n<p>Mobile workers increasingly do everything through their smartphones.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7148\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7148\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7148\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/citroen-berlingo-my2015-2-sm.jpg\" alt=\"New 2015 Berlingo dashboard with touchscreen\" width=\"550\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/citroen-berlingo-my2015-2-sm.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/citroen-berlingo-my2015-2-sm-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/citroen-berlingo-my2015-2-sm-50x32.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7148\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The updated Berlingo dashboard features a 7-inch multifunction touchscreen<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The\u00a0updated dashboard design will include a 7-inch touchscreen with the potential capability (some of it is optional) to provide:<\/p>\n<p>Improved navigation: the driver can\u00a0view maps in perspective, display speed limits, take account of traffic conditions &amp; select the most fuel-efficient route.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Media function: includes\u00a0radio, audio streaming and\u00a0connections to\u00a0portable devices.<\/li>\n<li>Hands-free\u00a0telephone function: Bluetooth, hands-free dialling and\u00a0double call management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Berlingo has sold 2.9 million units since its introduction in 1996 &#8212; and I can&#8217;t see anything here that will derail its deserved popularity.
