UK commercial vehicle manufacturing output rose by 46.3%\u00a0to 9,274 units in July,\u00a0according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).<\/p>\n

The SMMT figures show that this year’s\u00a0strong recovery in volumes\u00a0has continued through the summer, with\u00a0rising exports providing an additional boost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

July\u2019s figures are a continuation of the recovery made by the sector throughout 2015, which has seen production levels grow by a third to 57,967 units. Volumes last year were impacted by some restructuring within the industry, as well as a spike in truck demand in 2013 related to type approval changes. This year\u2019s growth comes off the back of increasing demand both domestically and abroad for UK-built CVs.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the\u00a0figures, Mike Hawes, the SMMT chief executive, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe commercial vehicle manufacturing sector’s impressive performance in July is further welcome evidence of its ongoing return to form.\u00a0After a difficult year of regulatory\u00a0upheaval, we’re now seeing demand for British-built vans, trucks and buses bounce back as fleet renewal patterns return to normal and the online delivery market continues to grow.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
