The latest versions of Volkswagen’s popular Transprter and Caddy vans\u00a0made their debut appearance in UK dealerships today (7 Sept).<\/p>\n

We covered the global launch of these vans earlier this year (Caddy<\/a> & Transporter<\/a>) but today is the first time that right-hand drive models have\u00a0been made available in the UK.<\/p>\n

Potential buyers can pre-book test drives on the VW website, but here are the key details of the new models.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen Transporter T6<\/h3>\n

Prices start from \u00a317,745 +VAT for the new Transporter, which\u00a0is clearly an evolution of the T5 model.<\/p>\n

The Volkswagen Transporter T6 is now available in the UK.<\/p><\/div>\n

According to VW, the\u00a0T6 Transporter features the widest range of potential engine,\u00a0transmission and trim level option ever offered on a Transporter.<\/p>\n

Engines:\u00a0<\/strong>Starting under the bonnet, a choice of\u00a0four 2.0-litre TDI Euro5 engines with outputs of 84 PS, 102 PS, 140 PS and 180 PS (Highline only) and a 2.0-litre TDI Euro 6 unit that develops 102 PS are available.<\/p>\n

Fuel saving:\u00a0<\/strong>As I expect to happen across the sector, all new Transporters are now fitted as standard with VW’s BlueMotion Technology modifications. These\u00a0include low rolling resisitance\u00a0tyres,\u00a0regenerative braking and Start\/Stop systems to\u00a0reduce fuel consumption.<\/p>\n

Interior:\u00a0<\/strong>Inside the cab, new standard features include\u00a0DAB+ digital radio, 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth phone connectivity and USB connection. VW’s Automatic Post-Collision Braking system, which applies the brakes automatically after a collision, is now also standard.<\/p>\n

Payload and loadspace:\u00a0<\/b>The new Transporter is available in a choice of four gross weights, from 2,600kg to 3,200kg.\u00a0Three roof height options are available, ranging from 1,410mm to 1,940mm, along with\u00a0short and long wheelbase options.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen Caddy<\/h3>\n

Prices start at \u00a313,500 +VAT for the new Caddy, which the\u00a0VW\u00a0expects to remain the firm’s\u00a0second best-selling commercial model.<\/p>\n

The 4th generation Volkswagen Caddy is now available in the UK.<\/p><\/div>\n

Trim:\u00a0<\/strong>Like the new Transporter, the fourth-generation Caddy is available in three trim levels,\u00a0Startline,\u00a0Trendline and Highline. Highline is the\u00a0top trim level.<\/p>\n

Engines:\u00a0<\/strong>The new Caddy can be specified with Euro 5 or Euro 6 engines for the time being. Unlike with the Transporter,\u00a0BlueMotion Technology is not standard across the range, but is available. The most eco-friendly model, in Euro 6 spec, includes BlueMotion\u00a0and a 2.0-litre Euro 6 102 PS engine that\u00a0returns a claimed 65.7mpg, with CO2 emissions of just 114g\/km.<\/p>\n

Interior<\/strong>: Inside, the new Caddy is more car-like than ever. Standard equipment includes\u00a0electric windows and heated and electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a five-inch touchscreen Composition Colour radio system with DAB+ and Bluetooth capability.<\/p>\n
