{"id":7809,"date":"2015-09-10T15:46:02","date_gmt":"2015-09-10T15:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/?p=7809"},"modified":"2015-09-10T15:46:02","modified_gmt":"2015-09-10T15:46:02","slug":"new-bvrla-system-could-help-blacklist-troublesome-van-rental-customers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/7809","title":{"rendered":"New BVRLA system could help blacklist troublesome van rental customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_7810\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7810\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bvrla-risc-2015-sm.jpg\" alt=\"BVRLA RISC system screenshot\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bvrla-risc-2015-sm.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bvrla-risc-2015-sm-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bvrla-risc-2015-sm-50x33.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7810\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The BVRLA&#8217;s RISC system can be accessed by all BVRLA members and flags up problematic renters.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Rental customers\u00a0who\u00a0cause problems for van hire companies could find themselves blacklisted by rental firms\u00a0across the UK, thanks to a new system.<\/p>\n<p>The British\u00a0Vehicle Rental and\u00a0Leasing\u00a0Association (BVRLA), which is the trade body for UK vehicle rental companies, has released a new version of its risk management software, RISC.<\/p>\n<p>This enables BVRLA member companies, including the majority\u00a0of UK\u00a0van rental firms, to search for information about new renters and to\u00a0record and share problems with existing customers.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the names and details of\u00a0customers\u00a0who provide fake ID, such as\u00a0fictional utility bills, or who cause\u00a0damage to vehicles may be added to the RISC system.<\/p>\n<p>The BVRLA says that the most common reasons for a rental firm to log a report on RISC are\u00a0non-conformance with terms and conditions, lack of payment, damaging the vehicle and abusive behaviour towards staff.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the revised RISC platform, BVRLA Director of Member Services Nora Leggett said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cRISC is now an even more powerful loss prevention tool for our members. Opportunistic fraudsters and high-risk customers have become adept at sharing information to exploit vulnerable businesses.
