But unlike some manufacturers, the Italian firm has\u00a0opted to\u00a0avoid\u00a0using AdBlue to\u00a0meet the\u00a0Euro 6 emissions standard.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8993\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8993\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8993\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/fiat-ducato-10-sm.jpg\" alt=\"Fiat Ducato Euro 6\" width=\"600\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/fiat-ducato-10-sm.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/fiat-ducato-10-sm-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/fiat-ducato-10-sm-50x34.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-8993\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Euro 6 Fiat Ducato vans will not require AdBlue, thanks to an updated EGR system.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>AdBlue is required for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), the process used\u00a0by most vehicle manufacturers to meet Euro 6.\u00a0The other main approach to emissions reduction for diesel engines is\u00a0Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR).<\/p>\n<p>Fiat has developed\u00a0a system it calls Low Pressure\u00a0Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LPEGR) which the firm says avoids the need for SCR by\u00a0channelling exhaust gasses away after the diesel particular filter (DPF), cooling them in a low-pressure EGR cooler and recirculating them ahead of the turbo charger.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the LPEGR system will be fitted to van and motorhome\u00a0versions of the Ducato.\u00a0Minibus versions of the Euro 6 Ducato will use SCR and will have a 15-litre AdBlue tank with a filler point next to the diesel tank cap.<\/p>\n<h2>New engine choices for Ducato<\/h2>\n<p>Alongside the switch to Euro 6, Fiat has introduced\u00a0a new range of engines for the Ducato.<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom of the range is a new entry-level 2.0-litre MultiJet II 115hp LPEGR engine. This will replace the current Euro 5 2.3-litre 110hp model and offer fuel consumption of up to 47.9mpg on the combined cycle. I&#8217;d probably only choose this engine for urban\/short wheelbase vans, though.<\/p>\n<p>In the middle of the range are updated versions of the firm&#8217;s \u00a0core 2.3-litre MultiJet II\u00a0130hp and 150hp engines. Both engines now have LPEGR to meet Euro 6 standards.<\/p>\n<p>At the top of the range,\u00a0a new\u00a0180hp 2.3 MultiJet II has been introduced to replace the previous\u00a03.0-litre 180hp version.\u00a0Fiat says\u00a0that the new, smaller engine will offer a significant improvement in efficiency and emissions, with a combined cycle\u00a0figure of 46.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 160g\/km.<\/p>\n<p>The FIAT Professional Ducato Euro 6, with LPEGR, is available to order now priced from \u00a321,445 plus VAT and on-the-road charges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fiat has released details of the Euro 6 engine range for the Ducato van.
