{"id":9312,"date":"2016-09-23T07:31:32","date_gmt":"2016-09-23T07:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/?p=9312"},"modified":"2016-09-23T07:32:04","modified_gmt":"2016-09-23T07:32:04","slug":"volkswagen-unveils-e-crafter-electric-van-concept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/9312","title":{"rendered":"Volkswagen unveils e-Crafter electric van concept"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Volkswagen has unveiled an all-electric version of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/archives\/9282\">new Crafter van<\/a> at the IAA Commercial Vehicle show in Hannover.<\/p>\n<p>Although it&#8217;s still a concept at this stage,\u00a0the firm says that\u00a0an electric Crafter was always part of the plan for the new range and that\u00a0the first e-Crafter vans &#8220;will be in customer hands by 2017&#8221;.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_9313\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9313\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9313\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/vw-e-crafter-1-sm.jpg\" alt=\"Volkswagen e-Crafter electric van\" width=\"600\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/vw-e-crafter-1-sm.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/vw-e-crafter-1-sm-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vanrental.co.uk\/vanblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/vw-e-crafter-1-sm-50x35.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9313\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Volkswagen e-Crafter electric van concept is expected to go into production in 2017.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>VW says that the e-Crafter will\u00a0have the same\u00a0loadspace as conventionally-powered models, with a payload of up to 1.7 tonnes. Maximum speed will be limited to 80km\/h (50mph), enabling the e-Crafter to deliver a range of\u00a0more than 200km (125 miles).<\/p>\n<p>However, VW says that future options may include more powerful\u00a0battery packs providing a range of up to 400km (250 miles).<\/p>\n<p>The concept vehicle&#8217;s battery pack, which is made up of 312 cells and has a total capacity of 43 kilowatt hours, is accommodated in under the cargo space floor, so it doesn&#8217;t alter the internal space that&#8217;s avaialble.\u00a0Drivers with access to\u00a0a fast charger will be able to charge\u00a0the 43kWh battery to 80% capacity in just 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>More details to follow when the e-Crafter\u00a0goes into production.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Volkswagen has unveiled an e-Crafter electric van concept at the IAA CV Show in Hannover.
