I wrote last week about\u00a0Ford’s plans to trial 20 plugin hybrid\u00a0electric vans in London. But\u00a0as I mentioned<\/a> in the same piece, a number of European countries are already embracing electric vans\u00a0with much more enthusiasm than UK operators.<\/p>\n

Postal services in France<\/a> and Norway<\/a> already operate thousands of electric delivery vehicles. Germany<\/a> is set to follow suit this year.\u00a0Today in Paris, a new scheme has gone into operation\u00a0offering businesses access to electric vans through a vehicle sharing scheme.<\/p>\n

The service, known as\u00a0VULe Partag\u00e9s, will be available in the\u00a02nd<\/sup> and 3rd<\/sup> arrondissement of Paris and will make ten vans available, including\u00a04 Peugeot Partner and 4\u00a0Citro\u00ebn Berlingo electric vans.<\/p>\n

Small businesses in the city can register on the the\u00a0scheme’s website in order to\u00a0use the service.<\/p>\n

France’s PSA Group — which includes Peugeot and\u00a0Citro\u00ebn —\u00a0has been producing all-electric\u00a0vehicles since 1995. The group currently sells five electric models, including two vans, the Peugeot Partner and the\u00a0Citro\u00ebn Berlingo (which of course are essentially the same vehicle).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
