Cambridge Van Hire
Cambridge is the county town of Cambridgeshire, in East Anglia. It's close to the M11 and connected to London by a fast, direct rail service to Kings Cross - making it a popular commuting base as well as a thriving, busy town in its own right.
Often known as the city of dreaming spires - thanks to its spectacular old university buildings - Cambridge is an ancient town that's grown into a modern centre for education, science and technology. It is home to one of the oldest and best-respected universities in the world - meaning of course that Cambridge is also very much a student city, with a wide range of pubs, clubs, music and theatre on offer.
The university also has close links to many of the high-tech companies that are based on the business parks in and around the city, helping generate employment and opportunity in the area. The city also has a nearby airport, Cambridge Airport, which provides fast connections around the UK.
Settlements in the Castle Hill area of Cambridge have been traced back as far as 1000BC. The Romans also established a military outpost in the area and following their departure both Saxons and Vikings maintained settlements in the same area, benefiting from the presence of the River Cam and the defensive position offered by Castle Hill.
The university was founded in 1209 by students fleeing from Oxford - and the rivalry between these two famous universities continues to this day, although on a rather more friendly basis than once was!
Cambridge is home to an estimated 130,000 people, meaning that the town stretches far beyond the historic buildings, ancient streets and beautiful gardens that most visitors come to see. All the major van hire companies have branches in Cambridge and a wide range of rental vans are available - catering for everything from students to business removals:
- Medium / short wheelbase vans - e.g. Ford Transit, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
- Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
- Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master, LDV Maxus
- Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
