Edinburgh Airport is situated to the west of Edinburgh, close to the M8 and M9 motorways. It provides scheduled services to southern UK and European destinations.
Located just to the west of Edinburgh and a little to the south of Dunfermline (just across the Firth of Forth), Edinburgh Airport provides a useful and important link to the south of England and various European cities. There are even scheduled flights to the USA - with New York the most popular US destination. As with most modern airports, there is a large range of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes in the terminal building - as well as luxury lounges where you can rest before take off.
Edinburgh Airport started out as a World War II fighter base but in recent years has become the second-busiest airport in Scotland, handling nine million passengers and 114,000 aircraft movements a year. Passenger numbers are forecast to reach 20 million/year by 2030.
