The Surrey town of Guildford is believed to have been founded sometime around 450AD - old even by British standards! Today, it's an attractive, pleasant town full of history and culture and acceptably close to London for rail commuters.
Visitor attractions in Guildford include the Great Tower of Guildford, the medieval structure of The Undercroft and Guildford Cathedral. There are also a number of popular gardens in and around the town. These include 18th century Painshill Park, RHS Wisley and the grounds of several stately homes, including Clandon Park and Loseley Park. Further afield are the Surrey Hills - including notable beauty spots like Box Hill.
Not all Guildford residents are commuters, however - the town itself is home to a number of large companies, especially financial and computer services firms. Road connections are good with the nearby A3 providing access to the M25.
