Hereford is the county town of Herefordshire and a historic cathedral city. It is about 20 miles west of Worcester and the M5 and is also close to the Welsh border.
Hereford is a major agricultural trading centre located close to border with Wales in the west of England. For many years the town was known as the home of the British Army's elite SAS (Special Air Service) unit but today they have moved elsewhere and the town depends mostly on agriculture and tourism.
Hereford's is an extremely old city - having first been founded in 700 A.D. - and its attractions include its 12th century cathedral, the Ledbury Heritage Centre and the Old House - a carefully restored 17th century home where you can see how the Jacobeans might have lived.
