About Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock, in Ayrshire, is in the south-west of Scotland, midway between Ayr and Glasgow. The town is home to a variety of companies - including Johnnie Walker whisky - but has suffered from the decline of its traditional industries.

Also known as the birthplace of Scottish poet Robert Burns, Kilmarnock is the location of Dean Castle, which houses more than 1,500 of Burns' manuscripts and other of his personal effects.
