About Galashiels

Galashiels is located around 35 miles to the south of Edinburgh and about 40 miles to the west of Berwick-upon-Tweed, England's most northerly town. Sometimes known as Gala, Galashiels is home to around 15,000 residents.

In a triumph for local campaigners, Galashiel's railway service was reinstated in 2015, 45 years after the old Waverley Line fell victim to Beeching's Axe in 1969. The town's road connections are fairly good, with the A7 nearby providing direct access to Edinburgh and a link to the A1 and A74(M).
