About Gloucester
Gloucester is the county city of Gloucestershire and is in the west of England. It's actually a port and is connected to the sea by both the River Severn and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, which allows bigger vessels passage than the tidal river would. Gloucester also houses the most inland RNLI lifeboat in the UK!
Visitor attractions in Gloucester include its Cathedral. Gloucester Cathedral has its origins in an Abbey that was built in AD681. The cathedral has also featured in several Harry Potter films. Another building of historical interest is the city's New Inn. This timber-framed building was built in 1450 to provide accommodation for pilgrims to the shrine of King Edward II.
Gloucester has always been one of the centres for the aerospace industry in the UK and these links continue today. The city is also home to the headquarters of the Cheltenham and Gloucester bank, a large mortgage lender. Transport links are good too, with the M5 motorway running from the edge of Gloucester. The result is that van hire is readily available in Gloucester, with local van rental companies all offering a comprehensive choice of hire vans:
