About Hatfield

Hatfield in Hertfordshire is an historic town that's grown rapidly since the 1950s, when it was one of several old towns in the area which were granted New Town status. Hatfield's excellent road and rail connections and its proximity to London also helped, as did the presence for many years of a sizeable aerospace industry.

Among Hatfield's oldest buildings are the Church of St Etheldreda and the Old Palace at Hatfield House. This property dates back to the 16th century and it's said that Queen Elizabeth I was confined here for three years, during the period before she became monarch.

Today Hatfield continues to benefit from its direct rail links to London Kings Cross and from its location on the Great North Road, better known as the A1.
