About Hessle
Hessle is a small town in East Yorkshire. It's situated just on the north side of the Humber Estuary, just a few hundred metres from the Humber Bridge. The city of Hull, or Kingston upon Hull, is about five miles to the east of Hessle.
Many of the 15,000 people who live in Hessle work a few miles away in Hull, but the town does have a mix of local businesses. Although Hessle once had its own shipbuilding industry, the majority of the dockyard area has now been redeveloped or converted for light industrial use.
Among the local attractions is the Humber Bridge County Park Local Nature Reserve, a redeveloped chalk quarry which provides a range of walking routes through woodland and flower meadows.
