About London Oxford Airport

London Oxford Airport's history can be traced back to 1935, when it was opened as a municipal airport. However, war intervened and the airfield became RAF Kidlington. After returning to civil ownership, Oxford Airport became the second-busiest in the UK during the late 1960s.

Situated in Kidlington, a few miles north of Oxford, the airport is about 60 miles from central London. The rise of the other major London airports and those in northern England left Oxford Airport somewhat out of the loop. However a number of seasonal routes to European destinations fly from Oxford Airport. The airport is also used extensively for aviation training and for private and charter flights.

The airport's popularity with business travellers and its location in Kidlington has attracted a car and van rental business, providing for convenient travel to and from the site, including with goods:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
