Today, it is a smaller, quieter place with a number of attractive medieval buildings and the oldest Methodist church in Essex, on South Street.
Manningtree's railway station provides direction connections to London, Norwich and Harwich and the town is extremely close to the nearby villages of Mistley and Lawford.
