About Newark

Newark, or Newark-on-Trent, to give it its full name, is a large town in Nottinghamshire, in the East Midlands. As its name suggests, it is situated on the River Trent. More usefully for today's travellers, it is also directly by the A1, allowing easy access to the north and south.

Attractions in and around Newark include the Newark Air Museum, which is home to dozens of historic aircraft on the site of an old WWII airfield. In Newark itself visitors can find the Newark Town Hall Museum and Art Gallery, as well as the Vina Cooke Museum of Dolls and Bygone Childhood. Anyone interested in antiques might also want to plan to visit Newark around the time of the Newark International Antiques & Collectors Fair, which takes place every two months at Newark's agricultural showground.

Newark is well known for its castle and agricultural showground and is also a popular base for commuters to Nottingham and even London, thanks to the east coast main line. Newark also has its fair share of van rental companies, which all offer a full range of hire vans:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
