Oldham is part of the Greater Manchester metropolitan county. It's a large town in its own right with a history of textile manufacturing, engineering and coal mining. Oldham itself has a population of approximately 105,000 people. The town's history can be traced back to 865AD, when it was established by Danish settlers.
