About Pontypridd

The south wales town of Pontypridd lies at the junction of the rivers Taff and Rhondda. Pontypridd grew rapidly during the Victorian period, when it became a major centre for coal production.

Iron and steel also played a major part in the economy of the area, but these industries are now largely defunct and the area relies on more heavily on service sector for employment.

Famous Pontypridd natives include singer Tom Jones and opera singer Geraint Evans.

The town has a population of more than 32,000 and is home to a campus of the University of South Wales.

Pontypridd retains the rail links that are a legacy of the areas mining past, with regular direct services to Cardiff and beyond. Pontypridd's large size means that van rental is readily available from local suppliers, with a typical range of vans usually on offer:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
