About Rosyth
The Royal Navy base at Rosyth closed in 1994, leaving the area to be developed by civilian businesses. In addition to the Rosyth-Zeebrugge ferry service, Rosyth's dockyard is also a major importer of timber and grain. Much of the dockyard stands on reclaimed land and some of the many warehouses and other buildings have been redeveloped for business and commercial use.
Rosyth's 15th century castle lies at the edge of the dockyard area. Once almost surrounded by water, the reclaimed land on which the dockyard stands means that it is no longer so well protected by the Firth of Forth as it once was! It does however make an imposing landmark at the entrance to the Rosyth Ferry Port and is of historical interest to visitors.
Rosyth forms a near-continuous urban area with Dunfermline and Inverkeithing and as might be expected, there is a strong demand for van rental in the area. Van hire in Rosyth is readily available and a full range of hire vans are available for rental:
