About Staines

More properly known as Staines-upon-Thames, the town of Staines straddles the River Thames and is home to nearly 20,000 people. This historic town's location within a few minutes of the M25 and the A30 means that it's popular with people needing good road access to Heathrow Airport, the south of England and the Midlands. London commuters are served by regular rail services to London Waterloo.

Staines itself is a historic town that was probably established by the Romans, who settled in the area and built a bridge across the Thames shortly after their arrival in Britain. The town grew more rapidly in the 19th century, when it became a staging post for coaches.

As London continued to expand and the Industrial Revolution gathered pace, Staines growth continued. The town was once home to a large factory producing linoleum, among others.

Today the town houses the headquarters of a number of large businesses. Staines also boasts several large retail developments. Residents and local businesses are served by local van hire companies offering a standard range of vans to meet most requirements:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
