Stourbridge is a town in the metropolitan borough of Dudley, in the West Midlands. It is located midway between Dudley to the north and Kidderminster to the south-west. The M5 motorway runs a few miles to the east of Stourbridge, providing it with good national connections. Home to around 55,000 people, it is primarily a residential area.
Stourbridge's history is closely associated with fine glass-making. Although the industry is now largely defunct, the area's rich coal and clay resources and canal system meant that it was an extremely practical location for such activity in 18th and 19th centuries. Similarly, Stourbridge once had its own foundry and coal mines.
Visitor attractions in Stourbridge include the Red House Cone - where traditional glassblowing demonstrations are available - and Hagley Hall, one of the finest stately homes in Worcestershire.
