About Waterford
The historic city of Waterford is perhaps best-known outside of Ireland for its eponymous glassware, Waterford Crystal. However, the city's importance as a natural harbour and trading post means it's played a significant role in the Irish economy for hundreds of years.
The city is popular with tourists, many of whom are keen to see Ireland's oldest civic building, Reginald's Tower. This Viking monument is 54 feet high and 42 feet wide, and is thought to date back to the 13th or 14th century. The tower once formed part of the city walls and is currently used as a museum.
Waterford remains an active port today. The town also has its own airport. The area is home to the offices of a number of multinational companies and benefits from its proximity to both mainland Europe and the UK.
