Keighley, in West Yorkshire, is just to the north of Bradford. Like most towns in the region, it was historically heavily dependent on the textile industry, with large mills employing thousands of people. Today, Keighley's population is split between commuters to Bradford and other nearby towns and workers in local businesses and industry.

Today, Keighley has a much more varied selection of employers including a number of engineering firms. Nearby towns like Bingley, Shipley and Ilkley are popular tourist destinations and Keighley itself is on the very edge of the scenic North Yorkshire Moors. Other popular attractions include the Keighley and Worth Valley Light Railway, which runs to Haworth and Oxenhope, and the Bronte Parsonage Museum, once the main home of the Bronte family.
