Stretford is a town in Greater Manchester. Home to around 40,000 people, it is situated just to the south-west of the city of Manchester and close to the M60 Manchester Orbital motorway.
The town of Stretford lies within the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester and is less than five miles from Manchester city centre, Salford and Altrincham. It is best known to football fans as the home of Manchester United Football Club and does indeed lie within the metropolitan borough of Trafford.
Once a heavily agricultural area – effectively the farm and market garden of Manchester – the arrival of the Manchester Ship Canal at the end of the 19th century and the creation of the world's first planned industrial estate, Trafford Park, transformed the area into an industrial centre. Today, almost no trace remains of Stretford's agricultural past.
Stretford's substantial industrial base and large residential population mean that there is a ready demand for van hire in Stretford, which is served by a number of local rental branches offering a variety of hire vans:
