About Bury

Bury is a mid-sized town with a traditional open-air market and a reputation for being the home of some of the best black pudding anywhere in the UK. The town is home to about 80,000 people, many of whom commute into Manchester to work each day.

Transport connections are good. There are regular tram services into Manchester city centre, while the M66 motorway runs directly to the east of Bury. This provides direct access to the M60 and M62 motorways. To the east and west, the A58 provides links to Bolton and Rochdale.

Like many northern towns, Bury expanded rapidly in the 19th century as the textile industry boomed. The town was also home to Sir Robert Peel, who was twice Prime Minister in the middle of the 19th century and who founded the modern police force.

Today Bury is known for its leisure attractions, which include historic buildings and great food and drink. Local residents are also well provided for with a wide range of amenities, including van hire:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
