About Cirencester

Known as Corinium in Roman times, Cirencester's historic centre is a popular tourist attraction. The town lies on the River Churn and sits within the country of Gloucestershire. The town itself is located on the south-eastern edge of the Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty.

Despite its rural location, Cirencester has good road connections. Gloucester and Cheltenham lie around 20 miles to the north west, while Swindon is the same distance to the south east.

Cirencester's Roman history means that there are a number of artefacts that may be of interest to history lovers. Although the town is no longer the major commercial centre it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, it remains a sizeable town with a significant economy.
