About Dublin Airport

Situated just to the north of Dublin, Dublin Airport's history stretches back to 1937, when construction begun on a disused site that had previously been used for military purposes. The first flight from the new airport took place in 1940, but growth was hampered by the Second World War.

One interesting and unusual feature of the airport is that its original terminal building was commended for its architecture and has since become a listed building. However, flights are operated today from two more modern terminals which help funnel nearly 28 million passengers on and off more than 200,000 flights each year.

Among the top destinations served by Dublin Airport are London Gatwick and Manchester. Looking further afield, Amsterdam, Paris and New York were the top non-UK international destinations in 2016.
