About Manchester Piccadilly Station

Manchester's Piccadilly station is one of the UK's oldest and most important stations. With a history that stretches back to 1842, it's always been a key node on the UK's national rail network.

Today, Piccadilly station has 14 platforms and services stations all over the UK. In addition to northern cities such as Sheffield and Liverpool, Manchester Piccadilly also services stations such as Bristol, Southampton and Birmingham. Piccadilly is also expected to form part of the High Speed 2 route, if this much-debated service goes ahead.

The station itself is situated on the A6, which is known as Piccadilly where it runs through the centre of Manchester. It's located about half a mile north of the A57(M) and just east of the city centre itself.

Manchester Piccadilly's central location means that car and van hire are readily available in the surrounding area. A comprehensive range of vans should be available with pre-booking:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
