About Newton Abbot
Newton Abbot has been a market town since 1220 and has a strong fishing heritage, thanks to its position on the edge of the River Teign. The town and its surrounding area are rich with historical attractions and is just a couple of miles away from Dartmoor. Despite this proximity, Newton Abbot has three country parks of its own; Decoy Country Park, Stover Country Park and the Haldon Forest Park. England's highest waterfall, Canonteign Falls, can also be found locally.
You are not far away from the seaside in Newton Abbot, either. The coast is about three miles away and the seaside resorts of Torbay and Teignmouth are similarly close. Newton Abbot also has a racecourse that has been established since 1866.
