About Sittingbourne

Sittingbourne lies to the north of the M2 in Kent, close to the Isle of Sheppey and just to the north of the Kent Downs Area of Natural Beauty, which stretches from Dover in the east to Sevenoaks in the west.

Sittingbourne itself is about 45 miles from Central London, to which it is connected with rail links to London Victoria and St Pancras International stations.

Inevitably, Sittingbourne has become something of a commuter town for London. But the town also has a significant industrial heritage. Its location close to coastal waterways and to London made it attractive for a range of businesses. Sittingbourne was once home to paper mills, clay quarry and brickmaking works, as well as a substantial barge building industry.

Today, the suburb of Milton has largely been subsumed into Sittingbourne and the town continues to grow. With a population of more than 60,000 and good road and rail links, further expansion seems likely. As you'd expect, van hire is available locally:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
