About Wincanton

The town of Wincanton is home to fewer than 5,000 people and lies alongside the A303 - the main trunk road from London to the south-west of England. Wincanton itself is about 15 miles from Yeovil, to the south west, and Shaftesbury, to the south east. Further north is Bath and a little further still to the north west is Bristol, which is about 35 miles from Wincanton.

Wincanton has a long history - a settlement has stood on the area located by the town for a thousand years or more. Wincanton is mentioned in the Domesday Book and the area is home to a number of medieval artefacts and ruins.

Today, one of Wincanton's main attractions for visitors is its racecourse, which holds a number of major races each year. Although a small town, Wincanton is large enough to have a local van rental supplier, which offers a typical range of hire vans:

  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
