Plymouth City Airport is a small airport on the south coast of Devon. It offers regular scheduled flights to London Gatwick and Manchester Airport, as well as to Ireland, the Channel Islands and other UK airports such as Newcastle, Glasgow and Leeds Bradford.

The airport’s history stretches back to 1923, when the first passengers joined a mail flight heading to London’s Croydon airport – the main London airport at that time. The success of this flight led to the construction of a permanent airport at Plymouth, which opened officially in 1931 although operations started in 1925!

Plymouth-London Gatwick is the airport’s busiest route – in 2008, more than 60,000 passengers flew on this route while 33,000 flew to and from Manchester.
